COSAS mourns its former president, CDE Songezo Mjongile

The Congress of South African Students has woken up to sad and devastating news of the passing of its Former President, comrade Songezo Mjongile.

Comrade Songezo Mjongile was no stranger to the revolution as he joined the congress movement and it welcomed him into the trenches when he joined the ANC Youth League at a tender age of 14.

In 1993, he was elected the President of COSAS succeeding comrade Moses Maseko Makwakwa. His term of office came to an end in 1995 when Gauteng MEC of Human Settlements, Lebogang Maile became President.

Comrade Songezo Mjongile was a raw product of COSAS Mkhonto, as he later became an NEC/NWC member of the ANC Youth League and his active participation and love for the masses of our people resulted in him being elected the Provincial Treasurer and later the Provincial Secretary of the ANC in Western Cape.

It is for such reasons that the National Executive Committee of COSAS would wish to convey its most sincere, heartfelt and revolutionary condolences to the family of our fallen soldier in the camp as he joins President Ephraim Mogale and President Sandra Baloyi in the heavenly branch.

We wish strength and resilience to his family during these trying times. We dip our Black and White Army flag down in his honor.

Goodnight Mongameli, we shall meet in the morning!

Issued on behalf of the National Executive Committee of COSAS.

END.
